donut heaven

I realise that so far the thing I like most about Spain is the food, but we have been doing a lot of eating. Today, after we wandered through the Gothic quarter and Born and visited the Mercat de Santa Caterina (where I saw a stall selling sheep heads...with eyes),

and ate tapas beside the Esglesia de Santa Maria del Mar (a Catalan Gothic church with lovely stained glass windows),

Mum and I stopped for churros with xocolata. These are Spanish donuts that you dip in chocolate. They were very delicious but very rich. I had to leave one behind.

We have found a park near our apartment and we go most afternoons when all the local kids have finished school. It's fun making friends when you don't speak the language!

Barcelona!

Well I am finally in Barcelona after a very long flight. Our apartment is very big and 75 steps up but I like the climb. Our first day was long as we had to try and stay awake so we don't feel jetlagged. To keep us going we had a delicious lunch of omelette, patatas bravas, cuttlefish and my FIRST creme catalana!
It was as good as I hoped! Although Daddy liked it a bit too much...

Today we visited the Mercat la Boqueria which really made me hungry. We had Paella la Marisco, which means with seafood. So far, so yum...

adios amigos!

Today I am leaving for Spain!

We will be living in Barcelona for 3 months in an apartment. I am very excited although I will miss my friends.

Last night I saw a cooking program about Barcelona and they were making creme catalana, which Mum says is a bit like a baked custard.

It will be the FIRST thing I eat when I get there. I will report back!
